Victorian 9 ct rose gold shell cameo brooch. Cameo is mounted into a Gorgeous 9ct rose gold oval frame and is decorated with small tiny seed pearls on all four sides. The actual cameo is a portrait, which depicts the mythological motif of Bacchante maiden, follower of Dionysus, god of wine and fertility. This maiden, is shown with flowers, maybe Ivy leaves in her hair. Featured on the backside is an original T- shaped hinge along with a working and intact C- clasp. Also, at the top of the mount is a loop with a safety chain attached. This piece is not marked but tests for 9ct gold. The brooch measures approximately 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. Good condition.
